Executive Director, UnidosUS Action Fund and Action PAC
Rafael Collazo is the Executive Director of the UnidosUS Action Fund and Action PAC as well as the Director of Political Affairs for UnidosUS. Rafael leads the strategy and campaign execution of important advocacy initiatives organized in coordination with our Affiliate and community leadership network. Rafael has led or supported numerous campaign initiatives, from elevating the Latino perspective on COVID Relief, Tax Policy or Voter Integrity. Headquartered in Washington, DC, UnidosUS is the largest national Hispanic civil rights and advocacy organization in the United States. Through its network of nearly 300 affiliated community-based organizations, UnidosUS reaches millions of Hispanics each year in 41 states, Puerto Rico, and the District of Columbia.
Collazo is a seasoned activist and political leader who is one of the foremost experts on non-partisan Hispanic civic engagement and issue-based organizing campaigns. For two decades, he has been implementing successful voter registration, leadership development, and community organizing programs, targeting Hispanics in over 20 states.
Collazo leads political strategy to elevate UnidosUS policy priorities, which includes the external outreach to engage affiliates, allied partners and grasstop leaders across the country. Through execution of in person and virtual events, rapid response and earned media strategies, Collazo leverages UnidosUS’ collective assets to hold elected officials accountable to UnidosUS policy agenda.
Prior to his work with UNIDOSUS, he served as the National Deputy Director of Democracia USA/Democracia, Inc. In this capacity, he was able to help register over 420,000 Hispanics and lead Democracia to become, at the time, the largest field voter registration program in the country. Rafael managed 13 field offices in 7 states with an annual field budget of over 3 million dollars.
Rafael also understands the power of social media to reach our community. A serial podcaster since 2013, he hosts and produces “Bomba Live!,” a podcast that analyzes the latest political and cultural headlines from a Philly Puerto Rican perspective.
A frequently sought out UNIDOSUS spokesperson, Collazo has been featured on CBS This Morning, MSNBC, USA Today and countless print/digital media outlets.
Mr. Collazo earned his bachelor’s degree from Columbia University in New York. A Puerto Rican from Philadelphia, he is a proud family man, married to Michelle Roman-Collazo and father to Troy and Maxwell.
