The Delaware Hispanic Commission may establish subcommittees as necessary to carry out business, responsibilities, or assigned projects, and engage with other organizations in the State of Delaware that share a similar mission to exchange ideas and information.

The Economic Development Subcommittee focuses on finding ways to expand career opportunities within the Hispanic community through assessing career options, small business development, and encouraging entrepreneurship. In the interest of promoting economic sustainability within the Hispanic community, the committee advises the Commission on the needs and means to improve the delivery of services and recommends policy changes to implement these services and/or create new ones.

The Education Subcommittee identifies and advocates for the educational needs of Hispanic students and families to promote high-quality equitable opportunities, and to build awareness of state and federal education laws, policies, and rights within the Hispanic community.

The Executive Subcommittee consists of all Commission officers including the chair, vice chair, treasurer, and secretary. The Committee acts on behalf of the Commission in cases of emergency or immediate action is required; oversees expenditures and funds; and approves all major changes to the projected or approved annual budget.

The Health Subcommittee provides recommendations to end health-care disparities affecting Latino communities, including access to care, health education, screenings and outreach, funding and insurance, behavioral health, substance abuse, and child sexual abuse. The committee also examines secondary factors in health care, including language and culture.

The Housing Subcommittee educates the Hispanic community of both their rights and responsibilities in home purchases. and rentals. The committee works with both the Real Estate agents and brokers, various governmental and non-governmental entities, and stakeholders who assist the Hispanic community with their housing needs and awareness.

The Marketing, Communications, and Community Engagement Subcommittee sets the vision for and manages the overall marketing strategy of the Commission, and ensures that the Commission’s total marketing program is in concert with the strategic direction and needs of the Hispanic community. This includes assessing the consistency of the Commission’s branding including both on print and electronic materials. Additionally, the subcommittee engages with community partners and stakeholders to uphold the Commission’s mission and vision.
